Scope of Physical Therapy Practice

A physical therapist evaluates the body for prevention, identification, correction, and/or alleviation of acute or prolonged movement dysfunction. Specifically, a physical therapist will evaluate and treat; postural and bone alignment, joints, ligaments, muscles, strength, coordination, mechanics, and nervous system function. Physical therapy intervention consists of manual therapy and/or exercise based rehabilitation depending on the nature of the dysfunction. Physical therapy can address all areas of the body and individuals of any age.

Appointments

Your initial appointment is one hour long. The physical therapist will take a detailed history of your current concerns and past medical history, and examine the appropriate areas of the body. Findings and recommendations will be discussed, and in most cases, treatment will begin that day.

Follow up appointments are typically 45 minutes long. Depending on your individual needs, longer or shorter appointment times can be arranged.
