ReEmpoweringAmerica Plan™ Fact Sheet
What It Is: The ReEmpoweringAmerica Plan (REAP) is an innovative, yet powerful and practical, transportation energy initiative that offers a compelling, immediate and cost-effective dual fuel (Natural Gas/Gasoline) solution to America’s dependence on foreign oil now. It also addresses economic, environmental and international relations challenges related to this dependence.
The plan deals with the primary obstacles - both real and imagined – as well as cost and supply concerns that have prevented America from taking full advantage of its more than abundant (newly realized) and accessible supply of Natural Gas.
At the heart of the plan is a unique and yet simple and practical, proprietary (patent pending) process that will allow America to convert and fuel 235,000,000 cars and light trucks currently registered in this country using Enhanced Natural Gas (ENG). ENG allows cars to operate with greater efficiency and at dramatically lower cost than on gasoline. It also lowers required maintenance, while significantly reducing both CO2 and NOx emissions.
The ReEmpoweringAmerica Plan compliments and gives immediate grounding to some of the major energy goals articulated in plans pro-offered by President-Elect Obama, T. Boone Pickens, Al Gore and others. In short, REAP provides a clear and achievable path to overcoming our dependence on foreign oil within ten years. As a result it begins stimulating our economy immediately, creates jobs from day one and provides a much needed time-bridge to future energy innovations in wind, solar, electric, hydrogen and more.
The Overall Benefits:
- Converts 235,000,000 existing vehicles (cars & light trucks) starting today.
- Offers dramatic reduction in the cost of driving for the public,
- Reduces CO2 by 30% and pollution inducing NOx by 75%.
- Involves auto manufacturers with low risk, relatively low investment and huge potential gain.
- Keeps oil companies in the game.
- Creates jobs at many levels (manufacturing, infrastructure, technology, mechanics, etc.).
- Capitalizes on our abundant supply of natural gas.
- Demonstrates our ability to deliver cost-effective ENG to filling stations.
- Allows existing vehicles to run smoothly on ENG and still retain their ability to switch to gasoline.
- Compliments other alternative fuel/power efforts (ethanol, bio-fuels, hydrogen and electric).
- Provides a realistic path to funding infrastructure investment.
- Capitalizes on previous experience and field trials.
- Creates an immediate and positive impact on our economy.
- Provides an effective way to achieve independence from foreign oil within a decade.
- Contributes significantly to our homeland security.
- Reduces dramatically the cause of foreign conflict.
The Specific Economic Benefits: The ReEmpoweringAmerica Plan
- Contributes 1.3 trillion dollars to the economy from car and small truck conversion alone.
- Creates 1 million jobs across the nation.
- Saves between $350 billion and $700 billion dollars annually on foreign oil. This adds up to between $7 trillion and $14 trillion dollars over the course of 10 years.
When Can It Be Executed: REAP can be implemented immediately!
How Will It Launch: Using The ReEmpoweringAmerica Plan as a center-piece, the Institute and a number of State Governors who are leaders in the energy environment are working together to host a special strategic transportation energy gathering out of which will come a new, collaborative consortium of key industry stakeholders – all of whom stand to benefit substantially from their participation. The execution of one or more unique, statewide pilot transportation programs will follow the special strategy session. Once the plan template is fully articulated and the metrics established, The ReEmpoweringAmerica Plan can then serve as the model for a national rollout.
